Beyond the ordinary
Our journey began when we were unexpectedly introduced to the world of care proceedings. From that experience grew a deep passion to support other families facing similar challenges.

Why we started Holding Hands
One family found themselves facing the fight of their lives to protect their precious child—thrown into a world they never expected, feeling overwhelmed, frightened, and unsure of where to turn.
When we shared our story on social media, we were met with an outpouring of voices from other families who had experienced similar journeys. Many spoke of feeling unheard, misunderstood, and not fully seen during one of the most important times in their lives.
These experiences can be deeply emotional and incredibly challenging. Families often describe feeling that decisions are made before they have had the chance to fully share their story, leaving them feeling powerless and alone.
How we support and empower families
We support families by creating a safe, non-judgmental space where they feel truly heard, valued, and understood. Every family’s situation is different, so we take the time to listen carefully, acknowledge their experiences, and offer reassurance during what can often be an overwhelming and emotional journey.
Our approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and honesty. We provide a space which is clear and accessible, helping families better understand processes, their rights, and the options available to them. Just as importantly, we offer emotional support as one—because feeling understood is just as vital as receiving practical help.

We recognise how complex and challenging these situations can be, we lived them, and we focus on empowering families to share and gain support from each other.
